Today, I am at the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery

It is raining in England, I am not surprised. When I arrive, an umbrella or “Brolly” is one of the first things that I buy at one of the many fabulous charity shops here.
The museum is next door to a University.

This is a beautiful, free museum with couches and nursing rooms where families can gather and mothers can meet for tea and comfort.

As a woman of a certain vintage with some “urgency” issues I have been reducing caffeine and sugar. I am NOT pleased to report that it’s working! I ordered a mâcha latte at the cafe here and it tastes exactly like what I imagine a cup of grass clippings would taste like. Once is enough 😉

There are beautiful art works here. I have taken a few photos.

La Belle Dames sans Merci
The Beautiful Woman Without Mercy
I took the photo because she reminds me of Tamara in Cornwall. Although they share the beautiful hair and skin, i am confident that Tamara is merciful. She is a play writer from The Lizard that runs a writing group in Helston that I got to go to on Tuesday.

This panel had so many animals. I took the picture with the man because I wanted to highlight the scale of the work.

It may be difficult to see the description. It is Christ with the three Marys after the crucifixion. It was the second reference to Mary Magdalene. I didn’t take a photo of the other work but a painter named James Rannie Swinton has painted a famous actress dressed as Mary. I’ve spent ten minutes searching for the painting but haven’t found it. And, I stopped to do a quick sketch of the family at the next table.

I love a good game of peekaboo!

There was a lovely section called. “Little Boxes”. This one captivated me.
I have uploaded two videos to YouTube on my Modern Day Hobo site.
I am committing myself to creativity as a diversion from doomscrolling from this day forward 🙂
