The Shell Seekers

What’s a movie or book that inspired you to travel?

I read The Shell Seekers in the 1980s when I was on jury duty. Others were irritated about the imposition but I was with Penelope and Olivia and the rest of Rosamunde Pilcher’s beautifully crafted characters in England. I have reread this book every few years over the past decades.

Not only did her beautiful descriptions of Cornwall inspire me to travel, they tempted me to write fiction. It’s really a play date with my inner world playing with imaginary characters who are like dolls that I don’t have to hold up. I see them in my mind’s eye and play with them through my fingers.
